桜と鳥。
椿。
それぞれが立方体の側面2面にまたがって描かれています。

大きく羽を広げた2羽の尾の長い鳥は尾長鳥としましたが、鳳凰かもしれませんし、あるいは私には始祖鳥のようにも見えました。

上面には正方形の穴、その周囲を薄瑠璃と紗綾形で囲んでいます。
大きく割れて硝子継ぎされているのですが、紗綾形の斜線とも調和して文様の一部のようにも感じられます。

裏面には赤い「大工町御坊」の文字。
御坊とあるので寺院の什器でしょうか。富山県内で見つけた品なのですが、県内にも大工町という地名があるのです。そしてそのそばには有名な寺院も。

底面の四隅には、L字形の痕が残り、おそらく低い四つ足が付いていたものでしょう。
このうつわの内部には灰が残っていますので、香炉として用いられてきたようです。
