褐色の陶製の注器で、おそらく醤油差しとして生まれたものでしょう。
底面の高台脇には千鳥マークの印があり、珉平焼の淡陶社の製品だと分かります。
江戸時代後期に賀集珉平（1796-1871）によって始まった珉平焼は、明治時代には淡陶社へと引き継がれることとなるのです。
蓋には（新しめの）欠けは見られるものの、本体の内側には目立った汚れはありません。

A plover is seen around the base on the backside, which shows that it is a product of Tanseisha (1885- ) in Awaji Islsnd.
