鯉の滝登りは、立身出世のシンボル。
一尺（約33cm）という大きさを誇る堂々たる大皿（平鉢）です。
急流の滝を登る鯉と、大きなモミジの木の組み合わせ。
モミジの葉はコンニャク印判、古いタイプの印判が用いられています。
コンニャク印判のうつわとしてはかなり大きな作品です。

古い時期に割れていったん硝子継ぎ（焼き継ぎ）が施されたようです。後に硝子継ぎの表面を削り、部分的に補修を加えた形跡が見られます。
